The 18-year-old athlete will be the only Costa Rican representative in the Junior Triathlon World Championship
National pride! The triathlete athlete Mauro Quesada Zúñiga managed to qualify for the Montreal Junior World Championship, which will take place in Canada from; 2022, 24 to 26 of June.
The 18-year-old achieved this ticket thanks to his outstanding participation in the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Junior Championship. With a bronze medal in hand, he secured his place in the world championship.
Through his social networks, the Carthaginian expressed his happiness for this great opportunity and thanked everyone present during this tour.
“An unforgettable day in my life, achieving 3rd place with a pass to the World Cup. I wholeheartedly thank all who helped me to be there. I gave it my all and enjoyed it like never before. It left me very excited and wanting more!" wrote Quesada.
According to information provided by the newspaper La República, the young man made the decision to fight for this classification a year ago. To prepare, he trained an average of 20 hours a week.
Mauro competes in the category of "Junior Elite" ranging from 16 to 19 years old and competes in the distances of 750 meters, 20 kilometers and 5 kilometers.
